FAQ
-
I take a foundations-first, whole-body approach to wellness.
Rather than chasing symptoms or rushing into protocols, we begin by restoring nourishment, regulation, and metabolic safety so the body can respond more effectively to deeper work. This creates steadier, more sustainable change — and often reduces the need for aggressive interventions.
-
Lab testing is something we use with intention — not urgency.
Every client begins with foundational support. We focus first on nourishment, daily rhythms, nervous system regulation, and creating a sense of steadiness within the body. When the body feels safer and more supported, lab data becomes clearer and far more useful.
Depending on your history, symptoms, goals, and current laboratory data, additional testing may or may not be recommended. When deeper exploration is appropriate, advanced functional testing such as GI-MAP, HTMA, DUTCH, or functional blood work may be incorporated thoughtfully as part of your personalized pathway.
Testing is never about chasing numbers or collecting more data. It’s about understanding patterns gently and thoughtfully — so any guidance we implement is supportive, sustainable, and well-tolerated.
Labs are simply one piece of the picture. The body, your story, and your lived experience always matter just as much.

Many people come to this work after being told their labs are “normal” despite continuing to feel unwell.
In many cases, standard lab ranges are designed primarily to identify disease and significant dysfunction rather than reflect optimal physiology. As a result, subtle patterns related to metabolism, inflammation, mineral balance, or stress physiology may be overlooked.
Rather than focusing on a single number, I look at how different systems in the body are communicating — including metabolic health, nervous system regulation, nutrient status, digestion, and hormonal rhythms.
When these patterns are viewed together, the body’s signals often begin to make much more sense.
-
I do not accept health insurance.
Working outside of insurance allows me to spend more time with clients, individualize recommendations, and use tools that are not limited by billing codes or rigid treatment guidelines.
Many functional and holistic practices operate on a fee-for-service model for this reason.
-
No.
My work is educational and supportive in nature and does not replace medical care or diagnosis.I focus on nourishment, lifestyle, metabolic health, nervous system regulation, and whole-body support. When appropriate, I encourage collaboration with licensed healthcare providers.
-
This work is especially supportive for women who feel stuck, depleted, or out of balance — particularly those navigating hormonal shifts, chronic stress, metabolic dysfunction, or symptoms that don’t seem to have clear answers.
While my practice primarily focuses on women’s health, I also support men, adolescents, and children.
This approach is well suited for those seeking a slower, more intentional path — one that prioritizes understanding patterns, rebuilding foundations, and creating lasting change rather than pursuing quick fixes.
-
Functional lab testing looks at patterns rather than isolated numbers.
Instead of asking whether a value falls within a broad reference range, we explore how different systems are communicating — digestion, minerals, hormones, metabolism, and stress response — and what they may be asking for support.
When used thoughtfully, labs help guide personalized nutrition, lifestyle shifts, and targeted supplementation in a way that honors bio-individuality.

You don’t need to decide alone.
Every client begins with a New Client Consultation. During this comprehensive appointment, we’ll discuss your health history, current concerns, lifestyle, and goals to understand the full picture of your health.
Together, we’ll identify meaningful patterns and determine the most appropriate next steps. If additional support, functional testing, or comprehensive laboratory interpretation if appropriate, we’ll discuss your options during your consultation.
After your New Client Consultation, you’ll become an established client and can schedule follow-up visits and any addiotnal services that fit your individual needs.
-
No. Many clients begin with foundational support first. In The Nourished Body bloodwork is included to help us understand metabolic patterns and provide context as we rebuild foundations. More advanced functional testing is only explored if it becomes relevant later in the process.
-
My primary focus is supporting women navigating metabolic, hormone, digestive, and nervous system health concerns.
I also work with men, adolescents, and children on a case-by-case basis when my approach is a good fit.
If you’re unsure whether this work is appropriate for you or your family, you’re welcome to schedule a complimentary intake session to discuss your needs.
-
New Client Consultations are primarily offered weekday mornings. If you don’t see an appointment time that works for you, I’d still love to connect. Email me at metabolicmuse@protonmail.com and if I have afternoon, evening, or weekend availability I’ll do my best to accommodate your schedule.
-
Not always. While live sessions are available and often helpful for deeper discussion, some clients prefer a more flexible approach. In these cases, results and recommendations can be delivered through recorded video or written summaries, with space for follow-up questions through the client portal or email.
